Monster AU Info
Here's a basic rundown of Tokiomi's role in this au.
SHORT VERSION: Tokiomi is a kid who turned into a clockwork nanomachine android because of a space sickness. The other Tohsaka girls are his sisters and Gil was kind of like a little brother growing up. Kariya was his childhood friend. Kirei bullied him in the hospital and then murdered him.
LONG VERSION:
First of all, he grew up alongside Gil in the way people grow up alongside their parents' friends' kids. Gil was basically like an annoying little brother to him! Also, Aoi, Rin, & Sakura are all Tokiomi's sisters. Aoi is a year younger than him, Rin & Gil are two years younger than that, and Sakura is another year below them. Tokiomi was always very close to Rin in particular!
He was really close to Kariya when they were little, but Kariya's family got kind of weird after awhile and they drifted apart. He wasn't really even aware that Kariya got sorcery syndrome, so he didn't keep up with him when he went away.
When Gil got sorcery syndrome tho, it shook up the Tohsaka family as well. After that, all four of them were really closely watched for symptoms for awhile. But after three years had passed no one was being vigilant anymore, so it was just a yearly check-up and no big deal, particularly since they were all getting past the normal age of onset.
Aaaand then at age 16 Tokiomi suddenly collapsed while his parents had an important guest for dinner. NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT DIDN'T GO TOO WELL, SINCE HE'D SPAWNED CLOCKWORK IN HIS GUTS. But they put him in a really high-end hospital and managed to keep him alive and, more importantly, comatose. ODDLY ENOUGH, the combination of medications and being deeply unconscious and who knows what seemed to speed up his transformation because he hit 100% within two months, completely blindsiding the scientific community!
At that point, his body is 100% clockwork. On the inside where organs should be there are big gears, surrounded in smaller and smaller ones until you're talking something like nanomachines. From the outside he looks pretty much normal except where his eyes are big blue puddles of WATCH PARTS!! And he ticks. Constantly. Like a bunch of clocks. And whirs.
SO THEN he gets shipped off to the now-named-in-memory Risei Kotomine Sorcery Syndrome Research Institute, because Gil's parents report that it's pretty fabbu. THERE HE FALLS IN CRUSH WITH KIREI. Because Kirei is great and is doing great things for Science and you know what is awesome? Science. Tokiomi is going to grow up and be a super duper great scientist. He wants Kirei to be his awesome doctor mentor and friend and all of that great stuff and he follows him around like a fucking idiot because his name is Tohsaka Tokiomi.
Of course Kirei and Gilgamesh (who are totally boning) think this is hilarious and set up Tokiomi to get into a really awkward and UST-charged situation with Kirei, which Gil "walks in on" and they laugh at him a lot for thinking Kirei was a nice person. And after that, unlimited bullying works commences. So he writes home and tells his parents what an inelegant jerk Kirei is, but they think he's being a bratty teenager and tell him to knock it off. So instead he tries to put up with it, except sometimes he lets something slip in letters to Rin. But Rin is Rin and she calls bullshit, AND SO...
...so they tell her to stop encouraging him and cut them off. Now this is supposed to be a temporary thing! Like "Okay, let's separate them for a bit because hey. Our kid is sick and clearly having a rough time being away from home, and we need to encourage him to focus on the good stuff and study. Obviously they're feeding on each other's teenage rebellion so give them some space for a couple of months and it'll be fine." Only IT'S THE MISCOMMUNICATION OF THE CENTURY. Because meanwhile Kirei issues hit rock bottom and Tokiomi tried to send a "plz stand up for morals everywhere and get this jerk fired" letter and Kirei confiscated it without telling him because lol details. So when Tokiomi stopped getting responses he thought it was deliberate (and Kirei encouraged him to think so) and he was kind of heartbroken. And then before anything got cleared up, Kirei got bored of him!
And decided to see how he could kill him. Because see, Tokiomi can't really die easily. You can take his brain or his heart apart, yes. But if you replaced the parts, he'd start going again. All you're really doing is putting him in stasis. You have to be more thorough than that, and thus, for fun, Kirei put him in the incinerator. When it was off. So that he could feel it heat up and watch himself melt and feel himself overheat and stop working and. Well. :> Unpleasant death.
THE END.
